As it say's on the top... My wife's Vista laptop, recently stopped connecting to the Internet without an ethernet cable.

Sometimes the inexplicable happens - it may just have been the plugging in and out of the ethernet cable that did the job. Accept the praise as you did spend time trying to sort it out.

Unfortunately next time it was switched on it would only connect via the cable. So I did what I considered to be the inevitable and did a System restore back to when it was connecting wirelessly. You could try to see if you can roll back the graphics driver in device manager.

If this doesn't work you should consider reinstalling the SiS software - here is the website - I assume it will be the latest download under graphics driver.

Hi difarn

It looks like we've cracked it. I've been all day messing around with this problem. Major Geeks offered me the same driver you did. I went for yours because I thought it might be a newer version, as it happens though it was the same '2009'. Still you came up with the goods and that's what counts. As far as I'm cocerned you're a star.

I've installed it now and so far there has been no more 'SiS has stopped working' messages, or any other nasties. Although I've just been into Device manager and checked out the display adapters. Prior to this driver change the VGA driver was a...'Mirage 3 Graphics (Display Adapter)' but now it's a 'Standard VGA Graphics Adapter'
