Lost! One icon on the Tool bar for volume control.

Bizarre, there is now a space on the tool bar where once lived the volume control. Where has it gone?

In the Control Panel I am none the wiser.

My CD is playing silently, the software is not set to Mute (I checked!) and I am left scratching my head over this sudden loss of any volume control.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Right click on a blank space on the Taskbar.

In the menu that appears, select 'Properties'.

Next, select the 'Notification Area'tab.

Under the section headed 'System icons' there is a list of icons which you can set to either always show (ticked box) or always hide (cleared box).

As well as the above, check in device manager if your audio chip is working. It might have failed seeing as it disappeared so fast.
