Hi, i have a mini laptop no cd drive. i want to get vista off as i very stpidly loaded it on and the system is not up to spec to run it very slow. I have a portable dvd/cd drive however when i try and load vista back on from bbotup it just hangs after initial checking system. Is there any thing i could do i have tried loading it through USB stick but even though the stick is flashing when i reboot no joy.

If you want to remove it why are you trying to load it back on? If you have a legitimate copy of XP or Linux then the set up procedure of either of those will ask if you want to format the drive. Do so and that will wipe off Vista and put on the alternative system.

thank you for the reply. i have tried loading xp back on at the boot up stage but it just hangs after it says checking system
