Lost task bar and start button

Both Thunderbird and Firefox have spread downwards over the task bar and I cannot hitch up the skirts again. It is inconvenient but the first time in many years of Mozilla usage.

Has the auto-hide taskbar for some reason been enabled?

Right click on desktop - Personalize - Task Bar and start menu

Clear the Auto-hide

Done it !!!!! I ticked the 'keep the task bar on top . . ." My previous interpretation was the top of the page. It meant the top of the text in another dimension Thank you for reading my plight
