My existing Seagate Freeagent External hard drive is not big enough to store backups for both of my computers so I need another one. The old one (230Gb) was called a Freeagent Desktop USB unit and is now, discontinued. I may as well get a 1TB unit but does the replacement model, the GoFlex, work in exactly the same way? (I use Vista)

Yes it is plug and play, so should be no problem with Vista. Make sure you get the USB3 version, even if you do not have USB3 on your computers, as it will future proof it and is 10 times faster than the USB2 drive

Thanks for the advice Alan. but can you tell me, if I go for the USB 3.0 version, does it come with a 3.0/2.0 adapter and then a USB 2.0 cable? And there's no power cable? The pictures of the unit on the Web just show the unit, not the way it connects! (With my USB 2.0 device, there's just a single USB cable and the power cable.)
