Can you please advise me how to do a clean reinstall using the recovery discs i made when first used my pc. i have done it before but forgot.
it's an acer aspire x3300.vista

Change your boot order to boot from the cd,insert cd then restart your pc.

Or use Acer Erecovery and reinstall from the hidden partition on the HDD.

Personally I feel the HDD approach is preferred as CD's can suffer from scratches/marks etc

It's the same image as you burned to the discs.
