vista business laptop

wife has just been given a new vista business 32 bit laptop from work for home use repacing xp pro laptop, have set up home page for her but keep getting message "ie cannot display web page" have tried this site and same result, also it uses outlook for email and I have set that up but it rejects pop and smtp setting which are pop.ntlworld.com and smtp.ntlworld.com, basically cannot access the net, have taken the ethernet cable out and plugged it into old laptop and it works fine, please help

I have just found 'connect to' and connected to my network, tried cabled and wireless, still same not connecting problem

switched on today and everything fine
