Explorer stops working

when working Internet Explorer, it's not long before a box appears saying "Internet Explorer has stopped working" then it restarts, however , if I leave it alone then it's fine. I have looked in Help and Support, but can't find anything obvious so has anyone else overcome this problem

I find that a lot of programs stop working on vista.
I haven't been able to find out why ether.

delete adobe flash player reboot.

a corrupt flash player can cause these symptoms even if not using it at the time.

if not joy delete addons and reboot or reset ie8

yeh, have taken off a lot of unwanted progs, IE8 wasn't the trouble in the end, scanned and got rid of over 450 infected files, running fine now
