Hi guys,
I am going to build a new windows 7 media centre, and would like it to have freeview HD and be able to output 1080P HD.
what make components do you guys recommend?
I have already chosen an AMD AM3, DDR3 MB/Memory/CPU combo.
Your thoughts and experience would be appreciated.
many thanks
James

Have a look here:
Maybe worth the PVR version.
You will need a good aerial.

Exact usage requirements are a must to know when spec'ing a Media Centre. It will affect everything from the case you buy to the software you need to install (and purchase in some instances).
So, do you intend:
Backing up existing DVDs to hard drive
Playing blu-ray films
Use as a music centre
Having more than one TV tuner (for recording / watching multiple channels)
use of a satellite tuner at any point for Freesat
Networking it to either an NAS or other PC
Also put some careful thought into what remote control you want to use.
I've got to say, I'm a huge fan of my Media Centre, despite having some issues that I'm still trying to resolve. Truly better and more versatile than any PVR, and not expensive either.

Hi,
I really intend to use it only for TV.
So HD TV either Freeview or Freesat.
I also have an existing freeview aerial which i could use, would this be good enough for HD freeview?
cheers

If it's for TV only - and nothing else - then a shop bought PVR is a better way forward.
