how do I root my mobile??

Hi all, I have recently taken a step forward and have got myself a smartphone (a galaxy ace) and upon reccomendation by a friend I have installed avast on it and would like to set up the firewall to block some apps access, it is saying I need a root access to do this but as a newbie I am unsure how to do it and could not find any info elswhere, any help appreciated. Kind regards Ian

Through each app you should be able to decide what it can access without a Firewall. I suggest avoiding rooting unless you know what you are doing and it will almost certainly void your guarantee.
