Mapping Data Usage?

Does anyone know whether the 1gb of data per month that most providers offer is plenty for a smartphone to use for satnav use in a commercial vehicle, something like 50 hours per week?

It seems that Google maps V5.5 has this cache feature. So I'm trying it on a truck drivers updated phone over the weekend.

I'll tick resolved.

That is if someone would care to tell me how to tick as resolved on this new site...

I've got V5.5 and didn't know it did that! Thanks. My cache currently contains 30 Mb and I haven't used it much or rather have remained in the same area so haven't had to update the map.

Just did the check locally, it works well.

p.s. If you ever want to reduce a grown man to a state of sheer panic and shock, just suggest that he leaves his phone with you overnight!!!
