Poor o2 reception at home on Iphone

Been getting, "No service" at times. Went through settings with o2 helpline and all seem to be ok.
Got 3g on, WiFi on, CND on, data roaming off. Carrier is set to automatic.
Do I just have poor reception? Neighbour said he is on Vodafone and gets poor reception.

New. Bought from e-bay but still in shrink wrap.
I might try a different sim card as the one I got was a blank one.

i always stay clear of ebay the risk of dodgy gear versus savings is too high a risk, know too many people who have lost out.

Just been to the o2 shop and the assistant checked the coverage. I should be getting good coverage as there are masts all around my postcode.

are you able to get a refund for a faulty phone or replacement?

Discovered my neighbour is an o2 customer and she reports the same reception problems so I think this is a locality issue.

At home, inside or outside, 3G switched on I get one bar. Outside work I get 5 bars with 3G switched on. This must be a home location problem.
