LG 32" smart TV and Headphones

Hi, Anyone know if it is possible to use both speakers and headphones at the same time on an LG smart TV (can't tell you the actual model at the moment as its a friends TV). He's a bit hard of hearing and wants to use the headphones whilst his wife listens through the speakers. He used to be able to do this on his previous Sony TV. Neither Currys nor LG seem to be able to answer the question.
Any help gratefully appreciated as ever.
Al

Most of the sockets have a cut-off to the main speakers when headphones are plugged in (it's a simple spring contact). That could be by-passed by opening the case to access the rear of the socket, but high voltages are involved with some components. Wouldn't try it unless you are familiar with the insides of TVs.

You could check the connections at rear there may be an audio out connection he can use
I have a set of wireless headphones connected by scart an adaptor samr can be do with a speaker if the speaker is powered the volume can be adjusted on that while TV volume remains at set level.
