Nexus 7 & PDF files

Just bought a Nexus 7 but i'm unable to open some PDF files I have downloaded.
They open fine on my android phone but not the Nexus? All I get is 'can't open file' when I select it from my downloads.
I've installed adobe reader and another one from the playstore and also astro file viewer but still no luck.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I haven't downloaded any PDF reader but use Firefox as my browser. Downloading a PDF via Firefox it will open automatically. To find the file again, tap settings (three dots) select tools then downloads.

Hi thanks for the reply.

Check under settings, Apps, All, that Document Viewer is enabled.

Just sent myself a PDF document attached to an email. Downloaded it then went to downloads and it opened ok with the android document viewer.
