My Smart TV arrives today, as it will connect to the internet is there a risk of viruses and how can it be protected from them?

In my experience, viruses are only written (by and large) to target MS products. My children have been using Apple laptops, iPads etc for years with no AV and no problems. Same applies to Android devices. May all change in the future, of course!

It would be technically possible, but i doubt it would ever happen. The reason is pretty simple, what would people gain? How much credit card work are you going to do on your TV? Probably not much.
