No sound on HD channels

I recently upgraded my virginmedia service , and now have a spare set top box connected to my PC monitor via HDMI . All is well , apart from I do not get any sound on HD channels ( except ITV! HD ????? ) . Any ideas anyone ?

Most probably your monitor cannot decode the multi-channel sound formats which Virgin Media are broadcasting on most HD Channels.

Thanks for that , I will have to check , although monitor is only 6 months old , and not a cheap model ( Asus 278H 27inch )
