I collect old b & w photographs, so as to make copies of them I use my scanner which is gives me 1200 dpi. If I was to use a scanner with a higher dpi would that give me a better quality scan by far or would it just be that liitle bit better from the original ?

If you got to a higher dpi then you would also have to upgrade your printer to see any (small) benefit.

Morthin - which scanner do you use? Is it an all in one or a stand alone?
