Home video DVD transfer trouble

I'm hoping someone can help regarding two home video problems I have. First, DV tapes transferred to DVD+R discs on my LG DVD recorder only play on that recorder/ player, not on my PC or other DVD player. I chose DVD+R because of their supposed longer lifetime compared to RW discs. Second, I have the same problem with video files from my newer camcorder uploaded to my HP PC- if I transfer them to DVD+R they only play on the drive in the PCR, not even in the LG DVD player. Is this purely a DVD disc format issue? All discs finalized in the LG recorder, and I selected copy to play on all devices on my PC. Thanks

Agree RW discs are a waste of time as +R or-R are so cheap nowadays. Personally I have had less trouble with -R discs
Not playing in any other machine is normally a finalisation problem.
Have you tried putting them back in the LG machine and tried to finalise again?
