SDHC card in an SD card slot

I have bought a new camera that uses SDHC cards. But my computer doesn't read this card. The computer has a built in slot for reading SD cards. I assumed that would work for the new card as well. It seems it won't ... is that correct?

If it is, then are there new card readers in the market that I can buy?

Yes that is correct, but you can buy an SDHC reader for less than a fiver SDHC reader
