Screen brightness

I use Photoimpression 3 to print out a few photo enlargments to Epson CX3650, works OK. Only difficulty, is that the screen image is always brighter than what is actually printed. Apart from turning the brightness of screen well down, when all else on-screen will be darker, is there any solution to this? I do not believe there is anything in Photoimpression to adjust this.
Any advice much appreciated.
