I will be moving in to a new home soon and will be planning to network/ hardwire the entire house, patch panels in basement, NAS, WHS or not etc etc (this thread is in the Netowrking forum)
For part of this project I am trying to work out which kind of media streaming device I would want, basically should I go down the path of having a WIndows Media Centre set up or another type of media streaming device for example like the Western Digital WD TV Live option? Anyone got anythoughts?
I also need to consider that its easy to use for the wife and doesnt really feel or look like a PC (I was thinking of browsing internet as well from living room.)
I will be building up a theatre room in the basement with TV (so thought media streamer for this) main living room (Windows Media Centre based PC) then all other rooms (for the kids) media extenders like the Western Digital. However I want complete control over internet access in the future so I can protect my kids if they may browse on to anything that thier ages does not fit with so again as non windows media streamers provide this (like PS3 for example) would not be protected? My brains frazzled on what to go for!
