DVD Players

I have a samsung DVD-SH897M HDD recorder,Working okay 'fair'.The only complaint I got is when I put my home movies on to a dvd using DVD Flick to copy from my pc hdd to a dvd disc,The above machine will not play them.
I'm looking for a dvd player that will play these home movies its annoying.Been looking at a dvd Player Phillips DVP3580,Now according to the info on this it will play DVD,VCD,CD,& USB devices.
Can anyone please put me on the correct road how to overcome this dvd playing problem.Am I doing it correctly by using dvd flick to copy to dvd discs.
Help PLEASE.

Have you got Windows DVD maker, all mine made with it work on DVD players
