Know nothing of tablets nor Android OS. Can I get my present software to work on it? (pictures, documents, music, etc.) What about email? Can stuff from my IMac be transferred to Android? Have played with computers, laptops, etc for years but am totally ignorant about this technology. Any help/advice appreciated - don't want to waste £250+ on it if I can't use it.

In the same way that you have to use versions of programs made for IMac to install on an IMac, and versions of programs made for Windows for Windows pcs, you have to use versions of programs (Apps) made for Android operating system.
Most come with a basic set of Apps in same way that Windows OS (XP, W7 etc) come with Wordpad, and picture viewing etc. etc. and you can download some pretty neat free Apps to do most of everything.
There's 'Google play' Store to get your Apps. Here's business apps and to see more categories, click on the down arrow next to 'Business'
