problem with new laptop windoes 8

Hi All

Had a new computer (Make tosheba)and when i go to start it up i get a black screen and it says checking media then it says after it;s checked media no bootable device could anybody explain what is happening that is all it dose then it keeps on doing going back to checking media,then all i have is a black screen.

The laptop is failing to find a bootable device, in effect its hard drive, so as it is new you might want to return it to the supplier as faulty.

Thank you for the advice will return the computer tomorrow, I'm glad that somebody told what the problem is as i am not at all good with these computers.
