I have recorded a brief lecture of 20' on windows media player. To burn this to a CD for my students, which CDs do folk recommend? I used a cd-r of Tescos and nothing recorded - then I used a Verbatim cd-rw. This was a success but more expensive. Is there nothing in between? Thanks for any help.

For basic burning, a CD-RW disk should behave no differently from a CD-R disk, except that it can subsequently be erased and reused.
You may have been unlucky with a particular Tesco CD-R disk; I have used them on occasion without a problem.
...and, No, there isn't another type between CD-R and CD-RW.
