what software do i need to open web pages that begein with http://bit.ly/ its for how to repair cars

None, just type in the address as you have shown BUT the link you state does not go to a web site for car repairs !! Try it and see.

thanks iscanut.just realized what i was doing .clicking on the address bar search instead of useing the enter key. ok now.
