Epox is no more .... CPU Bios problem

I was given a low end Desktop from a friend, and I have a problem :s
It came with Case, M/board and cpu/heatsink.
Ive old memory and other components in the cupboard , managed to get it running.
The cpu is a 2.4 Celeron and is very slooooow.
Having checked google for the board's model number, looking to see if I can upgrade the cpu. Unfortunately the company that made the board is no more but I saw that an ebay seller has it http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-EPOX-EP-P4MKI-Micro-ATX-Motherboard-Pentium-4-P4-Socket-478-MATX-Graphics-/250898214637

From what I can gather the P4 is right for the board but when I attached it the comp ran , fans everything, bot got no video signal to the monitor. I put the celeron back in and the comp is working again, if slooow.
I was told it coild be because of the bios and maybe I should update, but how ? As the company doesnt exist , I googles the board and found driver upgrade sites offering 1.1 versions and 1.7 , 1.8.
This is where I get stuck,Im no bios expert lol
If anyone has any info/suggestions as what I could do now I'd really appreciate it.

That mobo (SKT 478) is so old I cannot imagine why you are bothering. Whereas today's motherboards make updating the BIOS a walk in the park it is a different story with older boards.
Try Googling Flash BIOS using USB. By the way if it goes wrong then there is little chance of a way back with this age of component.

To Update the BIOS you have to Download the Update Plus a Program to run the update In DOS the Program should tell you how to use it. But you have to first unzip the BIOS update then load it to a Floppy Disc also as to have the program on it. So you can run it in DOS. NOT DOS MODE do not turn pc off when updating as you will duff the board save the old BIOS to the floppy, it should let you do this

It has files needed for my m/board, i think.
Are these the files I need ? And if so is it a case of adding the AWDFLASH_V8.33.zip & P4ma4408.bin to floppy and booting from there ?

Long time since I did it but yes, first you need to unzip any files before putting them on the floppy to boot from. Also write down the exact name and how it is written upper case and lower case letters where needed of the bios update. when you do the update reed each screen carefully, you will have no mouse in the Update you have to use arrow keys and enter key etc
