Default Font MS Word 2007

I have recently installed MS Office 2007. No matter what I do I cannot change the default font in Word.

I have tried doing this through the font selection menu and changing normal template to the different font. I have also tried the longer method using the styles menu. In all cases whenever I reopen Word the same old font and size appears.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
