portable hard drive

i have a iomega select portable hard drive usb 2.0 with what should be 500 gb...properties state 66.3 gb available !somethings gone amiss,any advice as to what ? thanks

Sorry I disagree.
If you have a large xternal drive, it can have the same problems as an Internal drive.
I have a 500gb external (USB) drive and have partitioned it to hold videos (300gb), Documents (40gb) and the balance for original program storage (for rebuilding machine as and when.)
By only having One partition you risk losing everyting if you have a problem.

Why not just have a Folder for Videos and a Folder for Documents?
