Cannot correct a CELL word

I have a laptop running XP.. I use excell and when I type in a cell I cannot see on my toolbar what I have written and am unable to put my curser into the cell to correct this . Can you please help?

oops sorry double entry,another tip reinstall the program on assumes your using a version of microsoft office.

I'm not quite clear about what you are asking. Are you saying that your formula bar is not visible - this is where the text appears when you are typing if you have selected for this to be visible.

I don't know which version of Excel you are using but if the formula bar is not visible you should be able to go into View - Data - and there should be an option to check/uncheck formula bar.

You could also insert a text box into the cell in which you are typing.

If you have the Office CD you could try running a repair- put disk in drive and select repait.
