Skype on a mobile device?

I currently use Skype on a Dell Mini. Very good but I would prefer a smaller device. How can you tell if an ipad type device will work on Skype? Any suggestions? My needs are very simple. e-mail, Skype and normal mobile 'phone. Web browsing would be a bonus but not an essential.

A Skype app is available for iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android phones.

I have the Skype app installed in an Android phone but, to be honest, I've only ever used it for testing Skype connections. I doubt if there's much to choose between the Android and Apple implementations.
