Advice on clean install please...

..... ok, something went terribly wrong with my pc, an older Packard Bell imedia (1801 i think). I'm guessing something corrupted and windows xp simply would not boot. Proceeded to do a clean install and finally got xp pro installed, however on restarting the machine I've found it will not do anything, get the welcome screen up but can't operate the mouse or keyboard so obviously can't even access the bios to try and reinstall xp pro. Anyone have any ideas on what to try next? New hard drive? With xp already installed or not? Would that work? Driving me slightly mental now!

You will need to go here Drivers, find your PC model then download the drivers for your motherboard,graphics card,lan,audio and any others. I cannot find your particular model as although it might be called an imedia 1801 unfortunately Packard Bell seem to have a completely different way of listing their models on their support site.

Yeah, trying to find what I need to download but I'll need to burn it to disc then try and put it in a machine that I can't access the bios on, as I said the keyboard doesn't work at all so I can't use any function keys to get it to boot from disc. I'm guessing if I insert the disc it wont just boot on it's own and install the drivers, or will it?

Your keyboard should work but then again if it is a USB connection then it might not. If you have or could borrow a keyboard with the PS/2 connection that should work.

Not sure why you need to access the BIOS to install drivers, and if you have already installed XP then how did you manage without a working keyboard, or have I missed something.
