Fastest Processor for an Asus M2N32-SLIdeluxe Motherboard

Mobo is 940 socket AM2 currently has an Amd two core 5600 which has been ok but is locked and so although potentially good for overclocking cant do with this one. I think Phenom 11 x4 955 is the fastest that may fit but am puzzled because it ought only to fit am2+ socket mobo which mine isnt but manufacturers mobo database info for M2N-SLIdeluxe seems to say that Phenom 11 x2 x3 x4 is compatable. Anyone any thoughts please? and whether the likely speed gain is worth upgrading to system has a Nvidia 460 750gb card and 6gb of corsair memory.-thanks
