New or refurb for laptop

Hi, I'm looking to get a laptop to use for studying, running CD roms, watching DVDs, internet/email, not gaming but I'm likely to have a few things running at the same time.

I would like to pay £250-£300. I would love some opinions and advise on the ones below I've found and anything else anyone can recommend.

Also is refurb a good option?

only ever know two people get refurs laptops, both had problems, i will not touch them.

For around the £300 price you could buy brand new, with a full 12 months guarantee. I've seen adverts advertising for around the £299 mark, but just can't remember what and where it was, not too mention despite what you've said what specs are more important to you.

Forget refurb. Stuff is so cheap these days.....have a look here www.Toshiba.co.uk

Go for a satellite £250 then haggle about software!
