Connecting 2 laptops for filesharing

I have just set up a wireless connection to the internet with a BT homehub 2.0. I have 2 laptops I would like to connect to each other to allow file sharing of music, etc. (one using Windows XP, the other Windows 7). What's the best way to connect them, wirelessly or wired? And how would I go about actually doing this? I'm a bit of a novice. All help appreciated. The BT homehub came with a ethernet cable.

If both computers are connected to the Home Hub for their internet access, then they are also connected for File & Printer Sharing; it makes no difference whether the connection is "wired" or "wireless".
