Laptop Purchase Ideas or Suggestions Please

Hi

I am looking to replace my Dell Latitude D830. I presently use it for a little web design, movie/photo editing and family photo storage. It has started to run very slowly, hangs a lot so I'd like to replace it.

I wondered whether anyone could suggest any replacements with DVDRW drive. I've tried looking around but just getting blinded by the rnage of products out there. My budget is upto £700 and hope to buy in the next few days.

I had hought of going for an Acer (Aspire S3-391, Aspire Timeline Ultra M5) but I have heard poor feedback from a number of people regards the brand. I've also looked at Sony's Vaio (Fit 15, E SVE1713C5E) but there seems to be a lot of poor reviews which I was very surprised to read. I presume an i5 would be a minimum requirment.

This is a subject that appears fairly often in the forum, about Laptop recommendations and suggestions. If you check the PCA archives, there could possibly be a recent answer to your question?.
