can i set my computer to boot from a usb or have the ability to select the usb from a menu

I would imagine you could not sure if it would need to be done by selecting usb as first boot in the Bios.

Never tried it before but would imagine that should work.

Yes you can. Useful facility if you want to run antimalware on boot from USB (to get rid of the Police virus, for example).

Go into BIOS , and set usb device as first boot , instead of HDD.

As we don't know any information about the PC we can not assume that USB booting is an available option.
