I want to know if its possible to upgrade the CPU on my currant system and if so what would be the most effective option be for me? i currently have an I7 2630QM which has a clock rate of 2.0 - 2.9 ghz. I understand that i can only get a sandy bridge processor and that the best one out there for laptops is the 2960XM but would this even work? and if so how big of an effect would it have on performance?

My specs are I7-2639QM, GT540M, 6GB RAM, windows 7 64bit.

thanks for reading.

Changing the cpu on a laptop is not for the faint hearted and may not be possible.
