Advice on mid-price laptop for College, Audio and some gaming. Budget of £800

Hi all, Just about to take the plunge and buy a new laptop. Any suggestions for a laptop around the £800 mark. Been looking at the Asus N56VJ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-N56VJ-15-6-inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B009REFFVY/ref=sr11?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1358338611&sr=1-1
or Lenovo Z580. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009RGBD2C/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers
The Asus is potentially upgradeable to 16GB of RAM whilst according to Crucial Ram the Lenovo can only take 8GB. Should this concern me?
Primarily, it should see me through three years of College, but also run my Jamvox Monitor ( a device that allows me to play my guitar through my laptop) , I would like to also play movies, music and the odd game. So I'm guessing that I need an I7 chip and plenty of memory. What do everyone think of the ones built by Pc Specialist? http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/laptop/3420025/pc-specialist-optimus-iv-review/
Thanks for all of your time and patience,
Peter Bailey

Whatever you choose have a look in John Lewis and see if you can get it at the same price there. You usually get a 2 year warranty with them.

There is this one from JL.

Now just noticed that you get a 3 year guarantee with laptops at that price with them.
Best waiting for other suggestions as I am not that good at choosing what's best.

That's a good price for laptop of that spec , and with the 3yr warranty , is a bit of a steal .
