Sound system for PS3 & PC

Hi
I'm looking for some help picking a sound system.
I would like a 5.1 surround sound system to use with my PC, ps3 and virgin box which are all in the same room. Ideally as my ps3 and virgin box both have an optical audio output it seems logical to try an get a system that can take advantage of this.
The pc currently only has 8 channel motherboard audio using 3.5mm jacks but I would be willing to buy a decent sound card if necessary. The pc is only really for music and minimal gaming so I would use speaker fill to play the stereo music on all channels although is it that easy over optical cables?
I was thinking of spending up to £200, can anyone suggest a suitable system that would cover most of these bases while avoiding the need for a switch? I understand I may need a switch as multiple inputs for a reasonable price seems unlikely.
