Amazon Prime

The mention of Amazon Prime in another thread made me wonder if anyone else is a bit disenchanted with it?
I was a member until it doubled in price, but even before that I was having doubts.
More and more of the sort of stuff I ordered was either not "Prime eligible" or came with free next day delivery anyway, and of the stuff that was eligible, two out of every five did not arrive next day as promised (I realise that this is probably down to the carrier, but that's up to Amazon to use reliable carriers).
Anyone else a bit disillusioned, or am I just unlucky?
£50 a year is a bit much for unreliable service.

I have often been encouraged by Amazon to use Prime but have never tried it - my suspicious mind made me wary!
