New Laptop Help

Hi,
I'm looking into buying a new PC laptop for general day to day use however I do want one that will be good with games to a decent standard such as world of warcraft, football manager etc.
I have a friend who spent around £400 on one down from £600 (HP Envy I believe) that works a treat and seems to have good graphics and doesn't stutter or anything!
I'm looking to spend around £500 or less if I can, and I am just looking for some good recommendations really from the usual stores Amazon PC World Comet Currys etc.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Any ideas?
I do have decent PC knowledge and have seen a couple at PC World around £500 such as:

or

Seen a few decent ones however they have AMC processors and I would prefer intel!
Cheers
