Toshiba STOR.E ALU2 hard drive

I have plugged in the above drive to my PC but when I click on the "Safely Remove Icon at the bottomn of the screen I get a message saying unable to disconnect drive try again later. This goes on for days. What am I doing wrong. If I merely unplug the usb drive then I lose all the documents I have downloaded to the drive-HELP

You could try plugging into the rear USB port instead of the front. I have no end of problems with my portable hard drive unless i use the rear USB slot. Something to do with front USB slots don't always have enough power.
