Monitor DVI cable

I have a Samsung Syncmaster t220 and have been having problems with wavy line borders and a flickering screen (almost subliminal but annoying). My son suggested that i change to a DVI cable and I attached a BELKIN F2E4141cp1.8MDD DVI-D Dual-Link Monitor Cable. Unfortunately, although Windows started up OK after installation, I cannot see either my desktop or my mouse arrow. All I have is my desktop photo in full screen. Also, my screen still flickers, so perhaps the monitor is on the way out?? Any suggestions gratefully accepted. BTW - the resolution and Hz looks to be set correctly in Windows

Try it using another monitor or a TV whichever.if still the same on that it could be your graphic card driver needing updated.
