Help buying tablet for travelling

Can anyone recommend a tablet or other device to use for Skyping whilst touring in Austalia? and en-route? The device will eventually end up with an aged lady to allow her to see her grandchildren so needs to be auto-connect or some-such and the screen not less than 10 inches. Simplicity is the key as it will end up only as a communication device.

Skype is fine on an iPad but it would need a wireless set up. Simplicity is likely to be the snag.

Perhaps you should google for "skype video phone" some of the results

have links to you tube video reviews which demonstrate the features
