Pavilion notebook hinge problem

Hi folks

I have just started a debate with HP regarding a little problem with my Pavilion dv6.

I'm looking for anyone who has or has had a similar problem with the hinges on HP notebooks. The photo of a dv7 on this post from the HP Support Forum shows the end result of this problem, my dv6 is not quite as bad, yet.

An early symptom is the lid not closing properly.

Sorry I was so long getting back, I've got 'man flu', couldn't be bothered with anything the last couple of days.

Looking at the back of my machine one hinge is sitting higher than the other stopping the lid closing properly and putting a little extra pressure on one side of the case which eventually has caused the damage.

At least thats how it looks to me.

The thing is, will the manufacturer agree. My warranty ran out a few weeks ago.

If anyone has a better idea I would very pleased to hear it.
