HP Photosmart C4280 Scanning is not working

I have HP Photo smart C4280 connected to a Toshiba Laptop running windows VISTA and i find scanning is not working while printing is working when I scan a document it says USB device not found

Un-install the printer software from the laptop, and re-install as from new. Make sure that you are loading from a program suitable for Vista etc. It might pay to get the latest download from HP off the internet.

Regarding 'USB device not found', it managed to find the printer for printing?.

This question should be in the Helproom for a better response!.

It could that the scanner has not reset properly back to it's base.

Turn off device ,unplus power & USB port from back of printer

Wait a few minutes

Plug power back,then plug in USB, while pressing the 'ON' button

This should force a reset.

have you used a new or updated registry scan, as many of these wrongly delete some hp reg keys.
