Tablet for £250

I'm after a tablet for general web surfing and watching movies - youtube and some HD. I've come across this one, made by Hanspree at £160.

http://www.ebuyer.com/271191-hannspree-hannspad-tablet-pc-sn10t1-1653

It's got a lot of good user reviews and it seems to have most of the features much more expensive tablets have. Does anyone have this model or can comment on it?

I'm prepared to spend up to £250 but don't see the point with this model costing only £160 and rated so highly.

The Hannspad is a bit of a bargain at that price, but you may be interested to know that there's a colour display Kindle Android tablet about to launch. If the reports I've seen are true it's going to be quite something. It's likely to sell for £199, and should be here in November.

Thanks FE, but I plan to purchase much sooner than November but the Kindle Android does sounds interesting from the reports.

Another thread opened on here about a fortnight ago accusing E-buyer of only printing good reviews and will not post a bad review.

So although it gives all those good reviews maybe it is just not as good as they make out.

buteman could be right the Hannspree Hannspad was rated as a Don't Buy in ?Which this week with a miserable 38% rating.

If you want one for £250 the Dell Streak 7 comes in at that price and only just missed a best buy due mostly due to a poor battery rating

Now straight from the news Amazon will be coming out with a new Kindle Book or whatever you call it this Afternoon,

It will work and do things the same as an I-pad but will cost half of the price.

So not sure if that will be of any interest to you.

It was announced on the CBN news channel today.

Ok this looks like the Story.

So maybe wait and see what this one will do before buying another.

Yes, there only appears to be good reviews on the ebuyer link. I did read a lot of other reviews on the hannspad from other sites. The bad reviews are normally due to the poor stock operating system that comes with it which, reading from other sites, can be easily updated to a much better version. According to people who have done this, it greatly increases the performance. The specs on it are actually quite good - dual core 1ghz cpu and a decent nvidia graphics processor.

So I guess if you're prepared to tweak/update the unit it would be a good purchase but this would invalidate the warranty, wouldn't it?

Thanks buteman, pity its only 7 inch screen though. I'm really after a 10 inch.
