Varying broadband speed tests

I have just completed a broadband speed test with two apparently dissimilar results. Can someone please explain why? One test showed a download speed of 34964kbps and an upload speed of 8374 kbps, whiulst the other showed 23054 and 5453 kbps. The second test was by thinkbroadband.com whilst the first was by My Broadband Speed.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Just a guess ~ Broadband speeds vary Minute by Minute, depending on the number of others using the pipe

They are not in the same building or part of the country. How long would it take you to get to the nearest shop? then say you want to get to the same shop but start at john o groats.

I will let you think about that one

I take it with those speeds you are with Virginmedia.

This is the speed test that their engineers use.Speed Test
