On page 50, Ashampoo Photo Commander 9,0 is reviewed and final verdict states that " ..needs significant updates before we'd feel comfortable recommending it.". Guess what is on the magazine DVD ? Ashampoo Photo Commander 8.0 with a "PCA Offer" to upgrade to version 9.0 for £13.99. How can PCA not recommend the software and then push a special offer to upgrade to the new version ?

Easy, it's called Advertising

Ashampoo give the v8 software to the magazine, on the understanding that the magazine publish the upgrade offer.

It's quite good that the magazine doesn't then feel obliged to give the software a good review because Ashampoo are paying for advertising space...
